About Howard Financial
Howard Financial is a tech-forward outsourced accounting and finance firm serving clients across Vacation Rental, Hospitality, Consumer & E-Commerce, and Development & Real Estate. We combine strong technical accounting with modern tools to give our clients clarity and confidence in their numbers.
About The Role
We're looking for a Tax Manager to join our growing tax team. You'll support the full scope of our tax work, from income tax and year-end filings to compliance projects, while taking ownership of our sales tax function. This is a great fit for someone with solid U.S. tax experience who enjoys being both a hands-on preparer and a trusted point of contact for clients and teammates.
What You'll Do
Partner closely with the tax team, supporting all areas of the tax practice
Run point on sales tax: own compliance, filings, nexus reviews, and client questions
Prepare and review business and individual income tax returns and year-end deliverables
Manage tax calendars and deadlines across a multi-client portfolio
Communicate clearly with clients and internal accounting teams, translating tax requirements into actionable next steps
Help build and improve tax processes, checklists, and documentation as the team grows
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax changes that affect our clients
What We're Looking For
Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, or equivalent experience and knowledge at that level
Proven experience in U.S. tax preparation and review, especially income tax and year-end work
Sales tax experience is a plus, but not required; we'll support you in growing into that ownership
Highly organized, able to juggle multiple clients and deadlines without losing track of details
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Proactive and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Nice to Have
Experience with clients in hospitality, vacation rental, or e-commerce
Familiarity with tax
